Seline is the only child in her family. She has been raised by her grandmother after her mother abandoned her when she was only three weeks old. Seline’s mother was young when she gave birth and struggled to care for Seline on her own.

Seline’s grandmother is old and depends on small scale farming to earn a living. Her low income means the family is vulnerable, and without sponsorship Seline risks dropping out of school. Seline enjoys school and aspires to be a teacher when she grows up, inspired by her positive experiences of school and admiration for her teachers.
